Advanced Settings: How to edit advanced game settings

Lucid Lust allows advanced users to customize every aspect of the game via the settings.cfg configuration file.
This page provides a complete reference for all currently available options, and how to access and edit them.

1. How Does The Configuration File Work

The settings.cfg configuration file is automatically generated in your computer's persistent data path when you launch the game for the first time. It controls all game settings, including graphics, audio, accessibility, and technical options, letting you adjust every game parameter in detail.

2. Accessing The Configuration File

There are two ways to access settings.cfg

The Easy Way: In-Game Menu
  • Launch Lucid Lust
  • Open the Settings Menu by clicking the gear icon
  • Click the OPEN CONFIGURATION FILE button
  • Editing the file while the game is running will not immediately apply changes. You must restart the game for modifications to take effect.
The Other Way: File Explorer
  • The file is located in the game’s persistent data folder, which is different depending on your platform:
Windows Folder
~\AppData\LocalLow\Lucid Lust\Lucid Lust
MacOS Folder
~/Library/Application Support/unity.Lucid Lust.Lucid Lust
Linux Folder
$XDG_CONFIG_HOME/.config/Lucid Lust/Lucid Lust
OR
$HOME/.config/Lucid Lust/Lucid Lust

You can navigate to the folder using your system file explorer, settings.cfg will be there for you to edit.

3. Editing The Configuration File

Inside the settings.cfg configuration file, you can assign any valid setting by writing its name followed by an equal sign, then the desired value (e.g., Resolution=1920x1080). Each parameter accepts only the formats it is designed to recognize.

Things to know:

  • If a parameter is given an unrecognized value, the game will automatically replace that line with its default version.
  • If the parameter name itself is unrecognized, the line is simply ignored.
  • Values aren’t case-sensitive (true/TRUE/True all work).
  • If a line is missing, its default entry will automatically be added at the end of the file.
  • If the configuration file itself is missing, it will be regenerated the next time the game is launched.

The settings.cfg configuration file is divided into multiple sections, each controlling a specific aspect of the game. There is no required order: section titles and their initial arrangement are only defined during the first launch (or after manually deleting the configuration file). For clarity, this guide presents the settings grouped by category as they are initially created, but you are free to organize settings.cfg however you prefer.

SYSTEM

Language Currently, only English is supported. French should become available before v1.0, with additional languages planned for later updates!

DISPLAY

Resolution Screen resolution in pixels. Multiple formats are accepted, including both “1920x1080” and “1920*1080”.
WindowMode Defines how the game window behaves. Options include Windowed, Borderless, and Fullscreen.
RefreshRate Monitor refresh rate in Hertz. Should not exceed your display’s maximum supported value. Following formats are accepted: “60”, "60hz", and “60Hz”.
MaxFPS Manual frame rate limit. “30” will cap the maximum FPS to 30, for example. “-1” disables the limit and uncaps FPS, unless VSync is enabled.
VSync Synchronizes frames with the monitor refresh rate. "0" to disable. “1” enables basic VSync. “2”, “3”, and “4” will enable VSync and divide the refresh rate by 2, 3, and 4.

AUDIO

“-80” mutes the track; “0” is full volume. Audio volume levels are far easier to modify directly with the audio sliders of the in-game settings.

BGMLevel Background music volume in decibels.
BGSLevel Environmental and ambient sound volume, expressed in decibels.
SFXLevel Sound effects volume (UI, impacts, interactions), in decibels.
VoiceLevel Character voice volume in decibels.

RENDERING QUALITY

RenderScale Internal rendering resolution multiplier. Lower values increase performance; higher values increase sharpness. e.g., "0.5" for half-res, "2" for 200% super-sampling.
TextureQuality Controls maximum resolution of all textures. "Lowest" (256) / "Low" (512) / "Medium" (1024) / "High" (2048) / "Highest" (4096)
AnisotropicFiltering Improves the clarity of textures viewed at an angle. "True"/"False" to enable/disable this feature. "Forced” applies maximum filtering regardless of quality settings.
HairQuality Quality level for hair rendering. Higher values provide better detail but increase GPU usage. "Lowest" / "Low" / "Medium" / "High" / "Highest"
ModelDetail Level of geometric detail on 3D models. Higher settings provide more polygons and smoother silhouettes. "Low" / "Medium" / "High"
LodDistance Adjusts how far high-detail models are used before switching to simpler LODs. This parameter takes a float; “1” is the default distance, and "0" will always force the lowest LOD possible.

ANTI-ALIASING

AntiAliasing Type of anti-aliasing applied to smooth edges. "None" / "FXAA" / "SMAA" / "TAA"

TAA Parameters, ignored if TAA is not set as the AntiAliasing parameter.

TAAsharpen Sharpness filter applied after TAA to counter its natural softness. Higher values increase global clarity. "0.5" is the default value; the float range is 0-2.
TAAantiflicker Reduces shimmering and unstable edges. Higher values improve stability at the cost of extra ghosting. "0.5" is the default value; the float range is 0-1.
TAAhistory Controls how much motion smoothing TAA applies. Lower values reduce blur during movement. "0.35" is the default value; the float range is 0-1.
TAAblend Blend factor between TAA history and the current frame. Higher values reduce aliasing but increase ghosting. "87" is the default value; the range is 60-95.
TAAspeedfix If enabled, TAA history is discarded when rapid frame changes are detected to avoid smearing artifacts. "0" is the default value; the float range is 0-1.
TAAartifactfix Reduces specific TAA edge artifacts. May slightly decrease sharpness during motion. "True"/"False" to enable/disable this feature.
TAAjitterscale Adjusts the visibility of TAA jitter patterns. Lower values reduce jitter at the cost of more aliasing. "1" is the default value; the float range is 0-1.

SMAA Parameters, ignored if SMAA is not set as the AntiAliasing parameter.

SMAAquality Quality level for SMAA anti-aliasing. "Low" / "Medium" / "High"

MSAA Multisample anti-aliasing applied to geometry edges. Provides clean edges but is GPU-intensive. "None" / "Low" / "Medium" / "High"

POST-PROCESSING

SSAO Enables ambient occlusion to enhance depth perception in shaded areas. "True"/"False" to enable/disable this feature.
SSGI Screen-space global illumination level. Higher values provide more realistic indirect lighting. "None" / "Lowest" / "Low" / "Medium" / "High" / "Highest"
SSR Enables screen-space reflections on shiny surfaces. Increases GPU usage. "True"/"False" to enable/disable this feature.

REFLECTIONS

GlobalReflections Enables global reflections; it's highly recommended to keep it, since disabling it turns off most reflection-based effects. "True"/"False" to enable/disable this feature.
