Tag Rules
These rules define how to correctly tag cards so that searches stay clean, consistent, and useful for every user.
Always follow these principles when tagging any card type.
Mandatory tags:
- Card Type, including girl, male, or futa for characters.
- Source Style
If it's a character card
If it's a garment card
If it's an accessory card
All other tags are optional but greatly appreciated; every card must have at least 10 tags, and preferably 20.
Do:
- Use only one tag per category when required (e.g., Source Style).
- Only apply tags that are actually there, not only implied.
- Use Source Style correctly.
- Use original, inspired, recreation, or parody depending on where the design comes from.
- Tag proportions and shapes, not opinions.
- Use Global Style tags only when the style is obvious.
- Example: an outfit covered in neon circuits is clearly futuristic; patched clothes + dyed hair might be alternative.
- Use Global Concept tags only when the character is visibly non-human or clearly themed.
- Example: elf ears, goblin features, vampire fangs, etc.
- Stay neutral and descriptive.
Ask yourself: “Would another tagger choose the same tag from the card alone?”
If the answer is unclear, do not apply the tag.
Franchises and characters:
- If your card is based on an existing fictional character, tag the franchise with the copyright: prefix and the character with the character: prefix, for example copyright:overwatch character:widowmaker.
- These tags are not part of the official list: they appear in their own sections on the card.
- Only fictional characters are allowed. Cards depicting real people will be removed, see the Upload Rules.
Do NOT:
- Do NOT tag things that are not visible.
- If you can't see it, you can’t tag it.
- Example: A character with a shy personality shouldn't be tagged with "shy".
- Do NOT tag opinions.
- No “beautiful” or “ugly”.
- Do NOT tag purely based on the origin of a franchise.
- A human from a fantasy anime is still a human, not fantasy.
- Do NOT mix categories.
- Example: Don’t put a Global Style tag in Source Style, or vice-versa.
- Do NOT apply contradictory tags.
- Do NOT apply multiple Source Style tags.
- A card cannot be both original and recreation at the same time.
- Do NOT tag realism or art style (unless a category exists).
- No tagging “realistic”, “anime-style”, etc., unless official tags cover it.
- Do NOT guess ethnicity, nationality, or identity if traits are ambiguous.
- If it’s unclear, use broader tags or skip the category.
